Terms of Service

The service

Maia is an AI-powered learning platform: it generates structured courses (from your own goals or from documents your organization uploads), teaches them through adaptive tutoring, and reports learning outcomes. By creating an account or using maia.study, you agree to these terms. If you use Maia through an organization, that organization's administrator controls your membership, assigned courses, and associated reporting.

Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep control of your sign-in method (Google account or email inbox). You are responsible for activity under your account. You can sign out of all devices at any time from settings.

Your content

• You (or your organization) own the documents and materials you upload and the courses generated from them.
• You grant us the limited license needed to operate the service: to process, store, and display your content to you and to the members of your organization you assign it to.
• We do not use your content to train AI models.
• You must have the rights to any material you upload, and you may not upload content that is unlawful or infringes others' rights.

AI-generated content

Courses and lessons are generated by AI and may contain errors. For organization courses, Maia provides source citations and a human review workflow so your designated expert can verify and approve content before learners see it: but responsibility for reviewing and approving organizational training content rests with your organization. Maia is not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.

Plans, trials, and billing

• Individual Free: One self-created course, free indefinitely.
• Individual Pro: $12/month after a 14-day free trial.
• Teams: Starter $15 and Professional $25 per seat per month after a 14-day free trial. A payment method is required to start a team trial; you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
• Cancel any time from settings or the billing portal; paid access continues to the end of the billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
• If a renewal payment fails, we notify you and keep access open for a 14-day grace period before the plan lapses.
• Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next billing cycle.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no attempts to breach security, no scraping or reselling access, no circumventing rate limits or plan limits, no using the platform to generate unlawful or harmful content. We may suspend accounts that do.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms, with notice where practicable. On termination you can request an export of your data (see our privacy policy).

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in-product notice, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Questions: dan@maia.study.
